Wipe + Update – 21.12.17
Yesterday a new Rust update was released again, and it was 2 weeks after the forced wipe, which means we did a map wipe.
We did a lot of changes to the server as well to optimize playing experience and server performance, this wipe we’re testing with a barren map, which means it has fewer textures and elements in the map to reduce server load which ultimately results in better performance. We did remove various plugins, including Instacraft, cause what is the fun if your base is done within a day and you’ll be bored for the next 2 weeks? We’re also fine-tuning the loot to find the perfect balance between resources, blueprints and weapons/tools.
Enough about the server, the Rust update this week has brought some pretty nice things.
Some changes to the cupboard and upkeep system again, stone takes now 5 hours to decay (was 3 hours), and sheet metal takes 8 hours to decay (was 5 hours). When looking at the cupboard it will show you notifications about the status of your building and to remind you to put resources in the cupboard.
A new item has been added as well, a handheld flashlight is now in the game which will be a great alternative for the torches. There’s another “new” item, which is not new actually, for the players who played Rust for a long time will remember them: Flares, we know them from Rust Legacy, they are brought back into the game with this update.
The roofing system has also been updated, it’s not optimal yet but it should be possible to connect roofs from different angles. Which is really cool in our opinion, at least roofs will look much better instead of weird artworks.
Besides that, there’s a lot of optimizations and fixes.
Stay tuned and have fun playing!
