3/11/22 Forced Wipe

Another month has passed and we’re already at the 3/11/22 forced wipe! Time flies when you’re having fun…

Apart from the usual Facepunch updates, we’ve got a good amount of server updates as well. Some new things, unfortunately also some new limits, and various other things in the changelog below:

3/11/22 Forced Wipe - Changelog

Sniper Challenge

Players who have been around for a while on our server will know that we used to have the “Sharpshooter” plugin with daily challenges. Unfortunately, that custom plugin broke a long time ago. Apparently the idea inspired other devs, and there is now a public premium plugin available “Sniper Challenge”. It works slightly different than the custom plugin we used to run, so let’s get into it.

How does it work?

The event is fully automated, every server restart (so every 12 hours) a new challenge will be available. Challenges are picked at random, you can get a sniper challenge in various categories:

  • Bow challenge – 30 meter minimum distance.
  • Shotgun challenge – 50 meter minimum distance.
  • Pistol challenge – 75 meter minimum distance.
  • SMG Challenge – 100 meter minimum distance.
  • Rifle challenge – 100 meter minimum distance.

Use the command /sc show to see the current challenge and leaderboard.

Reward multiplier

The new plugin has a multiplier system, the less attachments you use on your weapon, the bigger bonus reward you get! The multiplier system works fairly easy: If you have NO attachments on your weapon, you get a 10x multiplier on your RP reward. Any additional attachment on your weapon will reduce the reward with 33%.

  • 1st place receives a maximum reward of 500 RP.
  • 2nd place receives a maximum reward of 400 RP.
  • 3rd place receives a mximum reward of 300 RP.
  • 4th to 10th place receives a maximum reward of 150 RP.
New limits

Currently, we have set global limits for a variety of items and advice us to use common sense with placing items that are not limited. The advice is to stick around to a maximum of 10 items of any kind per base.

Unfortunately, we get daily reports of laggy bases because the advice is ignored too often. Anyone who’s been around for a while knows that setting hard limits is the last thing we want to do. Sadly, we have to set hard limits now to ensure a pleasant playing experience for everyone.

We made a google sheet that shows both global and base limits, this sheet is publicly available so everyone can quickly reference it if needed.

Disabled Rust+

Another concerning issue is the use of (legal) bots. These are paid bots that you can link to Discord. It will notify you 24/7 about anything in-game, even when you are not online. Think of events like Bradley & Heli, Oil Rig events, etc…

We think this should not be legal because it gives you a huge advantage over other players. The only way to stop this is by disabling Rust+ because the bots use its API to function.

Lately, we haven’t seen much use for Rust+ in our server, so as of the 3/11/22 forced wipe it’s disabled. If we find anyone using a bot or workaround, it may result in a permanent ban.

Other Changes

A few other small changes complete the changelog:

  • New starter kit.
  • Back to normal town, halloween decorations and dark zone have been removed.
  • Various plugin updates.
Final Word

With this update, Facepunch has disabled the Halloween event. We will try to keep the scarecrows active, but that only works if they don’t remove them from the game like last year. If you are curious about all the other changes that Facepunch brought this wipe, feel free to check out their changelog as well.

Like always, please let us know your feedback either in our Discord or by sending us an email.
