17/11/22 Map Wipe
It’s been two weeks since the forced wipe, which means we’re already preparing for the 17/11/22 Map Wipe.
There’s no big changelog for this wipe, mainly because we want to get to the bottom of the packet flooding issues before adding new stuff and making things more complicated. We’ve also had a few very exhausting weeks with our dog and cat who are still struggling with health issues, that’s also why we don’t have a bigger changelog.
17/11/22 Map Wipe - Changelog
Adjusted Limits
Last wipe, we’ve intruduced new hard limits. A few minor tweaks are made to those limits today:
- Lanterns & Tuna Can Lamps are increased to 15 per base (was 10).
- Fish traps now have a global hard limit of 10 per player.
Server Economy
In the past two weeks, we’ve also seen a few concerning developments within the game. While we support healthy competition and roleplay, you can take things too far, and that’s exactly what happened.
Two teams set up a fish-for-scrap exchange. While it started harmlessly, it became a fierce competition with crazy prices for each exchanged fish. I did a test myself, after spending 45 mins on fishing, I gathered enough scrap to learn all blueprints and be settled for the wipe. Since this was widely promoted in the server, it unfortunately, resulted in a totally broken economy and the server being pretty much empty after 6-7 days of playtime because everyone was bored and had nothing to do anymore.
Again, we support healthy competition and roleplay, but I want to emphasize we don’t like seeing examples like the above. It breaks the economy and, ultimately, also the server. That being said, this is the main reason why we push a hard limit on the fish traps.
Other Changes
A few other small changes complete the changelog:
- New 4500 sized procedural map.
- Bradley drop rate balancing.
- Recipe balancing.
- Fresh server install in battle of the packet flooding issues.
